Following the news that the Frozen sequel was about to start recording, members of the LGBT community called out Disney in a Twitter campaign known as #GiveElsaAGirlfriend to give Queen Elsa in the sequel an LGBT story line. Believing that Disney should not give in to such demand because the idea of a lesbian Elsa is “frightening,” the European movement CitizenGo in turn launched #CharmingPrinceForElsa campaign. In the meantime, an article in the The Guardian states, “It is not about saying Elsa is a frosty ice queen who rejects men and must therefore be a lesbian. It is about saying that what’s implied can be true, that there are women who love women, and that we deserve love stories too.” Yet, this is not something that little girls can easily understand. Meanwhile, the above humanity-dedicated website notes that the upcoming controversial Disney sequel is being debated ahead of its release and the outcome of the controversy cannot yet be determined. At the moment, Frozen 2 does not have a specific release date. It is expected to be out some time next year. And as far as the issue is concerned, it seems it is only the grown-ups, from both sides, who are making a simple fairy tale confusing. But just to be fair to the children, here is hoping that their Disney movies not be tainted by opinionated adults whose agenda are more political in nature.

‘FROZEN 2’ ELSA LESBIAN OR NOT, WORTH THE DEBATE?
The argument whether Frozen 2 should give Elsa a girlfriend or a prince charming would not cease. On the other hand, there are some who think that adults should just leave children’s fairy tales or Disney movies alone. Since Frozen 2 was announced, there has been a debate over whether Queen Elsa is lesbian or not. According to MercatorNet, the debate over the heroine’s sexual orientation actually started after Frozen was lauched in 2013. Many people believe that the first movie is a metaphor of Elsa’s suppressed lesbian nature and the global earworm Let It Go is a coming out song.
